Sandra's metaphor

Learning can be like playing rugby where you can get knocked down but can learn from your mistakes.

James' Metaphor

This is a tuk tuck. It is used as a taxi in Thailand where my daughter just completed her teaching degree. She brought this model for me to build as a reminder of our time there this last Christmas.
The model comes flat packed and you need to shape and assemble...carefully.
Students and life are a bit like that. As teachers we try to give shape but it works best when things break out of moulds, work with other parts and flex.Sent from my iPad

Mary's metaphor

This is called a nurse tree. When these massive trees are knocked over they lay on the ground and continue to feed the forest around them. Before that they were live and provide homes to animals, shade, added to the environment and were able to give life to new trees. This is a metaphor for learning because of the layers and flexibility and versatility of learning.

Graham's metaphor

Sometimes teaching is like walking a plank!

Caitlin's metaphor

Sent from my iPhoneThis picture describes learning because it demonstrates children learning through their surroundings. Authentic and real in that moment.
My niece and nephew are observing a goat, feeding the goat, feeling the fur and horns... interacting with their environment and taking in all that to build on the schemas they have built as well as new ones.
Interactive and awesome! Plus they're pretty cute!

Learning is...

Learning should be fun, silly, creative, risk-taking and should be shared!

Jock's metaphor

Visiting the Senate: some downtime. I was curious if there were any Pokémon in the Senate- or if they were blocked. There are.
I was curious.
I found the answer.
I grabbed some evidence.
I shared my answer to friends who called me a geek and wondered if I got in trouble. Tee hee. Learning.

Metaphor for Learning

Learning is sharing what you have / know and what you can do with it with others.

Robyn

Pie

Learning is like making a lemon meringue pie. It involves collaboration (my husband and I worked together on this) and moving out of your comfort zone (never having done this before) and a whole lot of patience (it seemed to take a long time) and and learning is celebration (my daughters birthday).

Sonja's Metaphor

Learning is exploring with hands-on activities.

Learning metaphor

Learning is messy, active, learning by doing, and fun.

Metaphor for learning, by Joel

Learning is... improving our standard of living by improving the world around us. Compost is taking something that we could perceive as garbage, but it can be used to grow beautiful, healthy, sustaining plants, which are the foundation of every food chain and vital to all forms of life. Like it or not, everyone needs compost.

Constance's metaphor
